Arcade stories brings a diversity to a heavy existence, walking a fine line between alternative, metal & nu-metal genres.
It began in 2019 harboured as a solo project. After releasing 3 singles, a line up of musicians was acquired and Arcade Stories entered the live scene in 2022. Based in Mackay, QLD, the band has played a number of shows locally, and looking to debut outside of their hometown soon.
The band consists of members from various other projects, both continuing and folded. This is possible due to the tightness and versatility of the music scene. 3 members stepped into Arcade Stories from a previous slam metal band 'Vasculitis', and the drummer continues the solo metal project 'Shell of Me'.
Arcade Stories is set to release their debut EP, High Score Diploma on April 27th.

High Score Diploma is our debut EP, it consists of 3 tracks.
In terms of genre, we include a mix of nu-metal, grunge/alt and metal. Most notably it's influenced by Deftones, Korn, Bring Me the Horizon, Northlane, and even a bit of influence by Rufus Du Sol, which you could hear on the final track 'continue?'.
The concept of the EP is a video game theme with horror undertones.
New Game begins as a tame rock song, but is quick to introduce some grit. You Are Dead follows as the heaviest track. The song is filled with riffage, and touches on themes of loss and connection. The track 'Continue?' finishes off the EP by ramping down with piano, electronic drums, and full sounding choruses with an uplifting message.
