This is the story of Sophian. I was always fascinated with music, ever since I was a young child. A lot of my siblings played music and I remember looking up to them and knowing I wanted to learn how to play the guitar so badly. So that's what I did, I would borrow my sisters guitar and sit down for hours every single day and just practice. Over the years I started to get pretty good at it. Worth mentioning, I grew up in the Maldives most of my life on a tiny little island. The music scene is very lively there but I never really got into it there. I used to have a lot of self doubt and I think that's what really stopped me. Fast forward a few years and I found myself moving here to Perth. It took me a while to get into and learn about the music scene here and to say its pretty damn incredible is an understatement. So many talented musicians and music here. Once again, I found myself wanting to play music but I doubted myself and felt I could not do it. A few years went past before I flew to Melbourne one day to watch Coldplay. They were one of the main reasons I started to play music and when I got to see them live, I know this sounds cheesy but I had a moment where I knew I had to do music. I knew at that moment that I had to pursue music as a career. Once I got back to Perth I started to figure out what I wanted to do musically and how I was going to achieve it. It took me a little while but towards the end of 2021 I met my now band mates. Finn and Tyler. We clicked right away and we all had the same dream so it was a pretty easy decision for us to know that we wanted to make music together. And that's how Sophian the band formed. I know it sounds a bit funny that my personal name became the band name too, but we all decided it was a pretty unique name and we did not want to just make up a silly funny name haha. So since January 2022 we have been playing music and to date have had 2 headline shows and recently just released our first single too. We have a lot of plans for the rest of the year and we can't wait to be on this journey together as we work our way up in the industry!

Tips to fellow Artists:

I guess there is no easy or direct answer here. But the one advise that we (Sophian) would have individually but also as a band is:

- Fight that little voice in your head that says you are not good enough. Do you feel like you suck at it or will never make it. Hey, sucking at something is that start of becoming good at it haha. Jokes aside. You have to believe in yourself and you have to manifest what you want to do and where you want to be.

- It's not an easy journey but work really hard and it really is possible. Just don't give up.

- Make new friends with other musicians/bands and people in the industry. This will definitely help you along the way!
