Born in Canberra / Ngunnawal, Hannah Blackburn was the middle child of a suburban family. The music story begins as early as four, when Blackburn’s parents opted for boot-scooting classes instead of babysitting, which may be responsible for her love of country music, and lifelong connection to Patsy Cline. Then, transitioning from the cowgirl attire, Hannah stepped into competitive dancing, with aesthetics and grading akin to a beauty pageant. This saw her into her midteens, until she found a nylon string guitar and folk music. After being captured by writers Laura Marling and Gillian Welch, Blackburns musical tastes and self expression shifted from dancing to songwriting. Although the medium may have changed, the unabating perfectionism remained as Hannah developed her unique touch for writing songs.

Forever re-nesting between Victoria’s Bush and beaches, Hannah’s musical career blossomed into a driving force, with 2019/2020 seeing her perform at BIGSOUND as well as support acts including Archie Roach, Angie McMahon, Emily Wurramura, and undertake a 10 date Australia wide tour with The Porch Sessions. During this time, Hannah released singles including ‘Did You Always Know’, ‘Tiny Car’ and ‘I’m Fine’ which all received acclaim across Pilerats, triple j, Eucalypt, Wicked Child and amassed over 400,000 streams across her discography.

Following the pandemic, Hannah used the time to reflect and begin work on her debut album ’I Want To Love You’, available now and recorded with producer Gormie (Angie McMahon, Loose Tooth, Batts).
