They're called ULTRA MEGA CAT ATTACK ("UMCA" for short), and they're here to dance and rock out.
ULTRA MEGA CAT ATTACK are Boey Yinghao, Cassandra "Kit" Tang, Daniel Chan, Debbi Koh, Keith Sootho, and Keith/Kit's cat "Puppy".
Combining their love for cats, dizzy disco-esque dancing, and all-out rock and roll, ULTRA MEGA CAT ATTACK (yes that’s their name) channels the alternative rock sounds of Rage Against The Machine, My Chemical Romance, and Bring Me The Horizon. With booming drums, thumping bass lines, all-out guitar riffage, fuzzy layered synths, and fiery, raunchy vocals, the band aims to get any party rocking, on any dance floor available. Comprising percussionist Boey Yinghao, keys/synth player Cassandra Tang, guitarist Daniel Chan (Efficient Public Transport), vocalist Debbi Koh (Test The Divide), guitarist Keith Sootho (Keith VVolf, The Cultures), and Keith’s cat “Puppy” (no former projects), the band formed in 2020, the Singaporean alt-rock sextet quickly gained the attention of the scene by becoming one of the top five finalists for Vans Musicians Wanted that same year. Serving as harbingers of their upcoming debut album, UMCA's latest singles "009", "STAY.GO." and "All Or Nothing" brim with booming drums, all-out guitar riffage, heavy synths, and fiery, raunchy vocals that are reminiscent of Rage Against The Machine, My Chemical Romance, and Muse. wave of momentum, ULTRA MEGA CAT ATTACK capped off 2021 by selling out their Baybeats Festival 20th Anniversary Show set at the Esplanade Outdoor Theatre.
ULTRA MEGA CAT ATTACK is currently recording a full length album at Verta Collective’s studio, with Head Studio Engineer Jian Liang (affectionately known as “JL”, or simply the GOAT - Greatest Of All Time) at the helm. Their debut album, which has yet to be titled, is slated for release in 2023.
